IAESTE China Experience Week

Many thanks to Dr. Wu (IAESTE China Chairman) for the support, Fanfan (IAESTE China National Secretary) for the program, all IAESTE China staff at the office for the hard work and tutoring so all of these can happen. Student came from different backgrounds, cities, universities, but all come with the same aim: to participate in the work for IAESTE and to change themselves. I’m proud to present this paper which is about participation of one-week time in IAESTE China Experience Week , it seems not a long time ,I might not have shown a great changing, as I expected, but that week was the start.

What I did during IAESTE Experience Week:

First day Assignment:

1.       Make a PPT about Self-introduction Presentation and attend the welcome meeting

2.       Design the Dinner- proposal of “IAESTE Opportunity for Networking in Enterprise”( call “ONE”)

3.       Research the stuff about the Australian Apprentice Visa ( call “ Trade Skills Training Visa)

Second day Assignment:

1.       Make the photo shop on participator‘s report of IAESTE China Experience Week

2.       To solve the problems of communication break-down with supervisor

Third day Assignment:

1.  Check the information and to assist arrange the entertainment activity

2.  Make the photo shop on participator‘s report of IAESTE China Experience Week

3.       Write the press release of overseas internship offer

4.       To translate the business paper

5.       To complete the Q&A package which is to provide overseas students with information to adapt internship life in China

Fourth day Assignment:

1. To translate the business paper

2. Check the information and assist to write the press release of Leisure and Tourism Studies program at Hong Kong

What I gained from IAESTE :

American Team Management + Excellent Staff+ High effective work+ Taiji Time =

  IAESTE Office

Always make yourself in the third level “ not enough effectively” in mind which might push you move on and try work more effectively anymore

Second thoughts are best

To change positions when you think again , understand other’s feeling as standing by other’s point of view

Learn about “ Business sense, value system, Case study”

Personal skills , including the ability of effective communication, prompt feedback and positive attitude

Last but not least, realize my weakness and show the willingness to change, take the opportunity to join the team and though the experience I will find the way on how I can improve myself in the future. No one knows what’s around the corner, but I knew one thing is I will not stop racing my dream and take the responsibility of my job, even the rate of being success is just one in a million, I want be that “one” ! Just like our slogan: The world is the biggest classroom, experience is the best teacher, IAESTE China offers you both! I learned the lessons because I’m not perfect sometimes I could made mistakes and confused in the work, my supervisor helped me to face and solve them.

IAESTE is a rapidly developing international NPO and NGO, people that are fresh in a new environment and try to find their way when they just join in this big family, the perfect situation to meet new persons and improve your diverse ability. It was really out of my expectations to meet this combination of different personalities, and try to analyze the cultural differences and different reaction in the same situation. The office just like a mini UN, my colleagues are from Indonesia, Spain, United States and different cities of China.

I came here determined to put up with everything new, everything strange, and try to compromise in every way. In my internship when I heard unreasonable things, I put up with the fact that I couldn’t express my self as I wanted , with the reality that communication break down happened. At last I decided that besides compromising I could get a step farther. Start influencing my environment. Show my own characteristics, I was glad to show a different way of thinking to the people surrounding me according to my personality and characteristics. I took a lot from this experience that I thought that wouldn’t be included in the general term of “knowing a different culture” that I used and gave what I could. And believe me the opportunities that you have there are nowhere else in the world and the reasons to come more than I could imagine.

Topic: Women needs sisters

A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her Mother.
As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter 'Don't forget your Sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass.
'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need Sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.

'Remember that 'Sisters' means ALL the women... your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. You'll need other women. Women always do.'
What a funny piece of advice the young woman thought! Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile! But she listened to her Mother. She kept contact with her Sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her Mom really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, Sisters are the mainstays of her life. After almost 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:
THIS SAYS IT ALL:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.

Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love
waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.

BUT.........
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are between you.

A girl friend is never farther away than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life
span will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end. Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you...Or come in and carry you out.

Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family, all bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.
Every day, we need each other still. Pass this on to all the women who help make your life meaningful.
I just did. Short and very sweet:

There are more than twenty angels in this world. Ten are peacefully sleeping on clouds. Nine are playing. And one is reading my paper at this moment.
Happy days! Stephanie Clark made me understand how important the sisters we need for each other!

Topic: G8

This Saturday I went to my junior high school deskmate’s birthday party, he grow up as a mature guy, but still keep a pure juvenile heart, he used to be my “ deadly enemy”(he always make fun of me), but we are best friends on earth now. See, nothing is impossible.

If you race the origin of the word“G6”, you will find a big secret about six guys who established the deeply friendship by the gambling which we could call “mah-jong”. Anymore, the new word “G8” is instead of “G6” for the beauty and playboy joining. Twofer!!!

There is nothing more important than high school friendship, I assume you’ll make yourself nostalgic when memory the great time in high school, the guys are hysterically funny and the games are big bowl of amazing, we really enjoyed an entertaining night, we spit-swear and pinky-swear to promise we must talk the talk , walk the walk , keep friendship forever.

It is not a rendezvous, but how could it be too damn perfect? I mean, every minute is worthy of good memory and I love every member of the “G8”, I wish we could be good friends forever.

Topic : Hairspray

Hairspray is a 2007 musical film produced by Zadan/Meron Productions and distributed by New Line Cinema. It was released in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom on July 20, 2007. The film is an adaptation of the Tony Award-winning 2002 Broadway musical of the same name, and a remake of John Waters' 1988 comedy film of the same name. Set in 1962 Baltimore, Maryland, the film follows a "pleasantly plump" teen named Tracy Turnblad as she simultaneously pursues stardom as a dancer on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation.

Now it’s coming to Shanghai Opera House, who want to watch it with me? Let me tell you this amazing story.

May 3, 1962 begins the same as every other school day for Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky), a "pleasantly plump" high school student from Baltimore, Maryland. She endures a day's worth of boring classes so that she and her best friend Penny Pingleton (Amanda Bynes) can race home to catch their favorite TV program, The Corny Collins Show. The program, a teen dance show, is broadcast from Baltimore's station WYZT on weekday afternoons.

The teenagers featured on the show also attend Tracy and Penny's school, in particular snobby rich girl Amber Von Tussle (Brittany Snow) and her heartthrob boyfriend Link Larkin (Zac Efron), with whom Tracy is madly in love. Amber's mother Velma (Michelle Pfeiffer) manages station WYZT, and goes out of her way to make sure Amber is prominently featured and that The Corny Collins Show remains a segregated program. Corny Collins (James Marsden) and all of his "Council Members" are white; black kids are only allowed on The Corny Collins Show on "Negro Day", held the last Tuesday of each month and hosted by local R&B radio DJ Motormouth Maybelle (Queen Latifah).

Neither Tracy's plus-sized, reclusive laundress mother Edna (John Travolta) nor Penny's strict Catholic mother Prudy (Allison Janney) approve of their daughters basing their lives around a TV show, particularly one where teens dance to "race music". Tracy's father, Wilbur (Christopher Walken), a joke-shop proprietor, is far more lenient. On one day's show, Corny Collins announces that one of his "Council Members" is going on a leave of absence, and auditions for a replacement will be held the next morning — during school hours. However, Velma turns Tracy away at the audition for being overweight and supportive of integration. Tracy is sent to detention for skipping school, but finds that detention hall is where the black kids hang out and dance. Tracy befriends the detention hall's best dancer, Motormouth Maybelle's son, Seaweed (Elijah Kelley), who teaches Tracy several R&B dance moves. These moves secure Tracy a spot on The Corny Collins Show.

Tracy Turnblad (Nikki Blonsky, right) dreams of her crush, Link Larkin (Zac Efron, left), in driver's education class at school during "I Can Hear the Bells".Tracy quickly becomes one of Corny's most popular "Council Members" and a threat to Velma's quest to have Amber win the show's yearly "Miss Teenage Hairspray" pageant. In addition, Tracy also becomes a threat to Amber's courtship with Link, as the boy becomes increasingly fond of Tracy and less so of Amber. Tracy's popularity earns her a sponsorship offer from clothes salesman Mr. Pinky (Jerry Stiller), who wants Tracy to be the spokesgirl for his "Hefty Hideaway" boutique for plus-sized women. Tracy convinces Edna to accompany her to the "Hefty Hideaway" and act as her negotiating agent, and in the process brings her mother's days as an agoraphobe to an end.

At school, Tracy introduces Seaweed to Penny, and the two are instantly smitten with each other. One afternoon after Amber deliberately gets Tracy sent to detention, Link gets himself deliberately sent there in support of her. There Seaweed invites the girls and Link to follow him and his sister Little Inez (Taylor Parks) to a platter party at Motormouth Maybelle's record shop. At the party, Maybelle informs everyone that Velma has canceled "Negro Day". Tracy suggests that Maybelle and the others stage a protest march, which they plan for the next afternoon, a day before the "Miss Teenage Hairspray" pageant. Link, scheduled to sing at the pageant and worried about his budding career, backs out of the demonstration and accidentally offends Tracy in the process.

Seaweed Stubbs (Elijah Kelley, left) introduces his sister Little Inez (Taylor Parks, center) during "Run and Tell That".The next morning, Tracy sneaks out of the house to join the protest march, which comes to a halt at a police roadblock set up by Velma. The entire company of protesters is arrested, although Tracy manages to escape. She flees to the Pingletons' house, where Penny lets her hide out in a basement fallout shelter. However, Prudy discovers Tracy and calls the police, tying Penny to her bed upstairs with a jump rope. Seaweed and a few of the other Detention Kids, having been bailed out by Wilbur, arrive and help Tracy and Penny escape. The kids then concoct a plan to crash the "Miss Teenage Hairspray" pageant. Meanwhile, Link visits Tracy's house to look for her, and realizes that he is as much in love with her as she is with him. Seaweed and Penny also acknowledge their love during the escape from her house.

With the pageant underway, Velma, leaving nothing to chance, places policemen around and inside station WYZT to prevent Tracy from entering. In addition, Velma switches the tallies from the pageant's phone lines so that Amber is guaranteed to win. Penny arrives at the pageant with an incognito Edna, while Wilbur, Seaweed, and the Detention Kids help Tracy sneak past the police and into the studio in time to participate in the "Miss Teenage Hairspray" dance-off. Link breaks away from Amber to dance with Tracy; then he pulls Inez, who has just arrived at WYZT with Maybelle, to the stage to dance in the pageant.

Against all expectations, Inez receives the most votes and wins the pageant, officially integrating The Corny Collins Show. A perturbed Velma loudly declares her frustration, informing her daughter of the tally-switching scheme. Unbeknownst to Velma, Edna has turned a camera on her, and Velma's outburst is broadcast live on the air, getting her fired. Meanwhile, The Corny Collins Show set explodes into a celebration as Link and Tracy cement their love with a kiss.
